Rent roll is right around the corner and landlords who login to their Smart Housing accounts will notice a big change - the Landlord platform has been updated! And it’s been updated big time.

Right away you’ll notice a change in format. The new Landlord platform is similar to what our Enterprise users have and we felt it provided a much more user-friendly experience.

For example, the Dashboard page. Previously, the Dashboard was a tool to help landlords get set up on their Smart Housing account. Now it gives you a better visual of what has happened recently in your business-

  • Payments - On the Dashboard you can now see a list of the ten most recent payments and invoices.

  • Maintenance Requests - Observe immediately what units need upkeep and in what category.

  • Applicants and Screening - Here you can view a list of the people you have recently sent rental applications to, when the application was last updated, and its status.

  • Recently Linked Residents - See which residents linked to you in order to make their rent payments online.

All of that is just a quick overview to help you look at what is going on. When you click on the tabs on the left-hand side of the screen, you’ll get more in-depth information. And while all of your favorite features are still available in the updated platform, we’ve added a few new features as well.

Applications - You can either select the application you want from the Dashboard or you can select the Applicants and Screening tab to view online applications for tenancy. On the applicant’s page you can view exactly where the applicant is in the process. The bar at the top of the page tells you the status of the application and/or what step the applicant hasn’t finished. And if they last-minute decided to apply with a roommate? No worries, you can easily add a co-applicant and email them an application as well. Once they’ve submitted and paid the application fee, it’s easy for you to order the tenant screening from there.

Residents - To view residents, you can type their name in the People Search on the dashboard or click on the Residents tab to find them. Once you’ve selected your resident you can view all of their information in one place. And now you will be able to add animal and vehicle information to their profile as well. You will also a notice a spot for leases. Ability to add leases will open in this area when our Smart Lease product comes out later this year.

The Landlord platform is one of our oldest products and was due for an update. We’re excited for the changes and are sure you will love the new design and features. It is a bit of an adjustment from what you’re used to so feel free to contact us with any questions you have.
