To help soothe the panicked resident and to limit the amount of calls made to you asking for help, come up with a contact/emergency response list. Post them on the back of a closet door in your units and let residents know where the list is located and that they are not allowed to remove it. We’ve come up with our own list to give you an idea of what to include. Below is a template you can copy and paste for your managers: Police - call 911 or XXX-XXX-XXXX Fire Department - call 911 or XXX-XXX-XXXX Ambulance - call 911 or XXX-XXX-XXXX Nearest hospitals- [Hospital Name #1] 123 Paper St. Springville, OZ 00000 XXX-XXX-XXXX [Hospital Name #2] 456 Paper St. Springville, OZ 00000 XXX-XXX-XXXX Poison Control Center - 800-222-1222 After-hours Emergency Contact- Janice - XXX-XXX-XXXX Luke - XXX-XXX-XXXX When locked out of apartment - After hours first contact Kris in #201. If not available, contact Janice. If apartment floods - After hours contact Luke. Carbon Monoxide alarm goes off - exit apartment. If no one if feeling effects of CO2 poisoning, check battery. Low battery can cause the alarm to sound. If high levels of CO2 are present, call 911. Break-in - stay where you are and remain as quiet as possible. Call 911. In case of fire or disaster - [Evacuation Plan] Earthquakes - Know what disasters are most likely to occur where your apartments are located and give information about what to do when those disasters occur. This could include Seismic, flood zone, fire danger, etc.
Some other points we could add to our emergency list are what scenarios constitute as an emergency and others that don’t. We could also recommend to our residents that they purchase renter’s insurance.
