Storage Space

One of my pet peeves with all the new houses that are trending in Utah is how wasteful the floorplans are with space. I’m not saying we need to make the rooms small, but an office could fit under those giant stair landings and instead there is an awkward open space utilized by children’s bikes or a table to collect mail.

On the other hand are designs for apartments. These are made to utilize every square inch of space so that both the landlord and the resident are getting their money’s worth. I appreciate this aspect of apartments…until there is a need for extra storage.

That awkward space below the stair landing sounds nice right now as I'm trying to figure out where to put all my winter clothes.

The need for storage space is real. If you’re a landlord who has space on your property that isn’t being utilized for anything in particular, you could consider converting it into storage space for your residents. There are plenty of positives in favor of storage spaces - they don’t need to look fancy, residents appreciate it, and it’s another way to make money.

Just a thought.
